Old writing on Vintage Balls...
 

I just received an old Heydler ball through the mail that I had purchased off of a great Gentleman in New Hampshire.
Its a darkened ball and can see all the stampings faintly. On the sweet spot of the ball I can just make out some lettering. " Philli " and under it " 1919 ". I was just curious whether there were any way for me to "see" what the extent of the writing was. Obviously I dont want to damage the ball in anyway, but is there a special type of lighting or tricks that I could use to bring out the writing and see it a little better?

I have a 1889 baseball and when I took a picture of it with my camera and put it on my computer I could enlarge the picture and read it better. Good luck!
