From the auction description:
"Hoping to improve the Babe's on-field performance with the threat of fines for behavior unbecoming the game's highest paid superstar, Yankees team owner Jake Ruppert was reportedly told by Ruth, "I'll promise to go easier on drinking and to get to bed earlier, but not for you, fifty thousand dollars, or two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars will I give up women. They're too much fun." Engaging here in the other great National Pastime, a dapper slugger poses with some pretty starlets meeting him upon his arrival in Los Angeles to begin filming "The Babe Comes Home."" |

The first photo is of Nolan Ryan vintage signed 1968 snapshot of him signing for a young fan outside Shea Stadium 1968. Thanks again Jimmy C. for giving this one up in 2010!

Babe and buddies embarking on their legendary Tour of Japan. Poignant and somewhat eerie shot, as Moe Berg is the only person looking directly into the camera. Perhaps an early look into his "higher consciousness" during this particular excursion...

This photo was taken atop the Travelers Hotel in Sacramento in the spring of 1931, when the Detroit Tigers played an exhibition game. Left to right are Bill Akers, Whitlow Wyatt, Frank Doljack, JACK DEMPSEY, Gee Walker, Hub Walker and Art Herring. I got this from Herring, who got it from Dempsey.
