Updated Vintage Website

It's been great conversing with you guys again after all these years - also nice seeing so many new people in the hobby with interesting collections.

Due to research for a book I'm working on, the focus of my site is changing to 'Pre-WWI Negro Baseball History'. I've revamped it somewhat to clean up the mess it had become, keeping the uniform page, cabinet cards, t206 origins, etc., but the front page will focus black baseball history.

Starting off with an old subject that never got resolved - please take a look and send ideas if you have any. Thanks, Scott

Scott:

Very interesting topic that I am looking to learn as much as possible about. I'll be taking a close look at your website and get back to you shortly.

Look forward to hearing from you.

I can't believe I've let this website just sit around for 5 years, looking like crap. I've spent all day fixing it up - just added links to pages on Nap Rucker, Ed Reulbach and and few HOF'ers. Maybe I can get this t206 'photo origin' project jump-started again as well.

Hi Scott, I have never seen your site before but it's great! I love that 1870's stereoview and "One strike" not to mention the T206 origins. Beaumont looks like he got in a fight before his photo shoot...good that it didn't carry through to the T206 :D

Thanks. A lot of new original photos have popped up since I quit working on the 't206 Origins' page - I'll get around to updating it at some point.

I also plan to add the following additional pages:

-RPPC
-advertising cards
-baseball photo 'type set' page (different photographic processes such as cyan, silver gel, albumen, etc., and presentation).

Cabinets

Scott, Very nice collection of cabinet photos...I zeroed in on the Mexican one from the San Diego area...I don't recall ever seeing an antique photo of a Mexican baseball team....If anyone has any from the El Paso/Juarez area or any from Chihuahua Mexico please post.

I like to take close-in shots of vintage photos with a digital camera, then it's easier to see the background...see the 6th photo down in the link above of a c1890 12 3/8" wide x 6 1/2" tall panoramic photo of Hobart College and University of Vermont...which I took at the 2009 National...

Thanks - I wish I still had all of them. I'll be replacing a few of the images over the next few days. That's the only Mexican one I've seen - it's also odd because of the thick glossy paper - not an albumen or silver gel, but definitely period.

Hi Jimmy - it's good to be back. By coincidence, I spent about an hour yesterday going through your cdv collection. Wow!

Billiards stuff

Scott, I saw your billiards website....didn't know you were into billiards too...Do you have any antique sign, prints, statues or plaques of billiards for sale?

Yes, I had to find something to do to avoid you guys for the last six years!

I'm not currently selling any of my stuff, not that I have much - basically, just a few original photos of Willie Hoppe and some old cues. I'll create a page of my current collection, just in case you or anyone else wants to talk trades.
