Paypal Hold

Does paypal put holds on anyone else when you get money from an ebay auction. They just did it to me and it says it can take up to 21 days for me to get my money.

The only times I've had it happen is if someone pays by e-check, then it just takes 3-4 days to clear

"yuuuuuuup"

They just started that with me too. I think it's there little way trying to squeeze more money from u. Not sure exactly how, but if they want me to wait I'll wait, but I'm not upgrading my account.

I've had this happend but it didn't take as long as they say it does. First if you shipped the item using tracking/delivery confirmation number then Paypal can monitor that. Once the buyer got the item, than you should get your payment shortly there after. I guess it all depends on fast you ship an item in which as they say can take up to 21 days. Being the holidays then shipping is not as fast which can delay the payment process. Personally I think its a load of crap but I guess it is to protect everyone in the Ebay game.

Typical

This is pretty typical from Ebay, esp. if you are a new seller. However, as a long time seller I've had Paypal withhold payments several times. They also do so in case of a customer complaint...but sometimes for no reason at all. I believe this is actually criminal, as paypal has no right to withhold funds from you. Both Paypal and its owner ebay, do many things that border on the illegal and are downright banned in other countries. Like in the U.S. Ebay basically forces its seller to use Paypal and if you actually would take a money order, you "cannot" actually say that on any of your listings. However, in most other countries esp. the UK and Austrailia, Ebay tried to do that and got slapped down from their govts.

I recently sold some sterling flatware for a friend and they put a hold on it for nearly 3 weeks.I had never had a transaction for that amount which probably triggered the hold. I believe that as soon as buyer leaves feedback then the hold can be removed and the funds released.

I had ebay do it to me for about a month. If you get a number of less than 5 ratings as a seller (which is BS) that a buyer can put a 4 star rating and you still can be penalized.
