1968 Topps Dodgers team card REVERSE BACK?

Hello, everyone! I'm currently building a 1968 Topps set and just noticed that a recently purchased Dodgers team card (#168) has the reverse printed in the opposite direction than all the other horizontally oriented cards in the set. Has anyone else noticed this? Further, are any of the other '68 cards known to have this variation? Thanks for any feedback/answers you can provide!

68 Cardinals team.....I am not sure what exactly you are looking for on the Dodgers team card? A scan would help

Hi,

Both the Twins and the Dodgers team cards have their backs printed upside down in relation to the front photo. If you place these 2 cards horizontally in front of you and then turn them over either right to left or left to right the reverse text will be upside down. All other team cards will have the text be correct when examined this way.

I am sure the reason is that the Twins and Dodgers cards are the only team cards in the 2nd series and the text was formatted that way when the sheets were printed. For all subsequent series the backs were formatted correctly.

Hope that helps,

Jeff

Unless there is a variation in the positioning of the specific card backs, there is no extra value to any of these cards. Just ring all that up to a 1968 Topps quirk.

That means for each card, not compared to other cards in the set.

An example of what is a variation is in 1987-88 Donruss. The wax pack cards backs orientation are opposite of factory set cards. In that case, both version are so plentiful there is no extra value to either version

You answered my question! Thanks!!

Thanks to all who responded! And thanks especially to Jeff Alcorn for providing the most complete and detailed answer! I'm glad to know that my Dodgers card was not an error per se, and I'm also glad to know that the transposed reverse on the Dodgers and Twins team cards was most likely just a 2nd series fluke. :D
