Opinions on Mantle and Maris and Mays items...

Hey everyone, I was just hoping to get an opinion on these items. Let me know what you all think. Thanks for being such a great resource!

I have always loved that particular Mantle autograph.
I was curious if you got that Willie Mays through-the-mail? |

Here is a pic of an almost identical Mays I recently sold. I also found a Lou Brock.

Chris I meant the card series. I actually like his style of auto better.

......or her style, maybe?

Thanks Jeff, Chris already helped set me straight. You got to admit it is better handwriting.

If it looks like "Willie Mays" it's not.
|
The Mays in the OP is secretarial. It's too bad since it "looks" better than the real deal.
|
It sounds like my worries about the Mays being a TTM sectarial signature were right. Too bad, I was hoping it was some sort of variant I had not seen but it does definitely look feminine and not like his vintage signature (which wouldn't make sense on this card) or his more common signature you see now. Oh well, thanks for the confirmation though. Anyone have any thoughts on the Mantle or the Maris. I am pretty confident about both but would like to hear more opinions. Thanks for the feedback guys.

I appreciate your compassion about my Willie Mays signed card but I did have an idea it was bad when I got it. It came in a big lot of cards though and I got into them all at a pretty good price so no worries. Appreciate your honesty though, this is a great forum and resource for collectors. Thanks again. Thoughts on the Maris or the Mantle?

yeah, that does look interesting. but no comment I am sure because it is from the wrong organization otherwise it would be the great train robbery if it were GA and if it were TM, then get a rope!
I wonder what Grad has to say, or Rullo? Why don't they know Willie Mays? No, sorry, we can't ask questions from those guys, they are the untouchables. We can only ask questions for Sipe, Mueller to explain themselves, not these guys, it's not fair. I'm glad you posted this, another one for the pile. I got a screenshot. d74095 It is the opinion of PSA/DNA Authentication Services that the signature(s) is/are genuine. According to the Certification Database, this item is defined as follows: Item: PSA Card Primary Subject: WILLIE MAYS Result/Grade: Authentic Notes: Signatures also include Duke Snider. |

Here's an example of a Willie Mays TTM wife-signed card.
It was certed and sold by Todd Mueller Autographs. Attachment 60837 When Mueller was questioned about the Willie Mays autograph that he certed and sold, below was his reply. Attachment 60838 "Good thing I saved the screen shot." |

This started off as a very innocuous thread. Josh asked for an opinion on some of his autograph items.
Then it became unraveled when member Bender07 posted that Mays signed cards certed by PSA. Tell me Mark, why did you have to post that card here? Why didn't you start your own thread on that card. Then, of course, Mr. Roste, "did his thing." And then "I did my thing." I apologize to Josh for my part in this thread unraveling, but at the same time I won't tolerate certain bashing without a reply. And both Bender07 and Mr. Roste owe Josh an apology, too. Next time, start a new thread. |

You have been asking questions "About those guys." You have been posting stuff "About those guys." What's not fair? Have your threads or posts been deleted? What's not fair, Travis? Because you post something that criticizes PSA or JSA, I shouldn't be allowed to post stuff about Mueller? Really? |
Quite the thread this has turned into it seems. The best part is that while opinions abound on my Mays (wife's?) signature that was obtained TTM, I can't elicit even one opinion on my Maris and Mantle signatures! LOL I appreciate your apology thetruthisoutthere, but it was not necessary. I received good info on my TTM Mays that confirmed my suspicions. I guess the only thing to do now is to try to sell it to TM since he seems to be the only one who believes it is from Mays himself! Thanks for the opinions guys, no hard feelings here.

No rabble rousing here :) |

And Chris, to be completely straight, you mean you won't tolerate any bashing without you getting a turn to bash too, right? Because that's what you two do. Are you even capable of seeing a post by Travis and ignoring it? (and vice versa?) Ken |

you posting of the Mays psa "autograph" was very relevant to this thread, i agree with you. |
How about this one? Has similarities to a wifey version. Maybe one from early in her career?

That looks like his earlier version that is wife probably learned how to copy and give the year of the card it could have been a vintage version of the signature but my card is a 1982! LOL Probably not his vintage signature on mine! LOL Thanks for posting the pictures though.
