Game Used/Patch Cards Of Vintage Players

This question has probably been asked many times before, but do a lot of you collectors collect game used/patch cards of vintage players? I just bought a really cool Ruth/Cobb/Wagner bat/pants card and I love it and I'm taking it to Cooperstown with me in a couple of weeks. But I always wonder if the game used pieces are fake. What do you guys think? Some of the game used cards out there look awesome. Some don't sell that well. What do you, the experts, have to say?

Thats a nice combo to have congrats.I think most of the game used
is legit but who's to say for sure I know they caught a group of people
last year that were selling bogus game used items and some of them were
sold to card companies.I have a few game used of vintage players but
this one is my favorite.

for the most part

There is some angst with board members concerning tearing up vintage memorabilia for the almighty buck. I do agree on the rare stuff and it's a shame to take a jersey, of which maybe a handful are known to exist, and cut it to shreds to put in cards. That aside, there have been at least a few articles concerning scandals of these types of items and the fact they aren't what they are purported to be. For those reasons, plus the fact they just aren't my cup of tea anway.......I am out!! (Shark Tank)

I found a Honus Wagner bat card on eBay. Destroying a bat once used by Honus Wagner is crazy.

Does anyone have documented sources (articles or thread links) of fraud concerning game used cards?

Dealers were just recently convicted of selling faked gu jerseys to card manufacturers. Though I have no knowledge the jerseys were of old players.

Modern player jersey card are in particular an issue, as people switch swatches to get a more desirable color pattern, stitching, patch or whatever. Collectors will pay more for a tri color swatch than a boring monocolor one.

What i said is true, I don't need to be no stinkin' documented sources.

Wow-interesting thread. I would love to know which cards those fake jerseys made it in. But it makes sense-how can card companies buy all those jerseys that are supposed to be real and still make money? It wouldn't shock me if they knew, because anybody can make a certificate of authenticity. I always thought they insisted on psa/dna or mears to authenticate a game used item.
