T206 Miscut values

What if any value is placed on miscut cards with 2 names?

Jantz 08-11-2012 08:05 PM

Did you mean T206s with two names the same or two different names?

Both, if possible. Thanks

Two different names potentially can have a decent premium. I've seen a few up to $450 if the name is easily recognizable or a HOF. I think Jantz & Erick's list is up to 34 examples.

Double namers not much, if it's the entire name I'd say 2-3 times the common price.

From what I've seen, T206s with two names the same really don't bring much of a premium, if any at all.

Two different name T206s are a different story. Not many of them have been discovered and are now starting to get some attention.

I've picked up a few in the past off of Ebay for the price of the card itself with no premium. Of course they were not listed as two different names or had bad scans by the seller.

Recently though this Rossman/McBride sold on Ebay and if I remember correctly ended for well over $200.

Hope this answers your question.

Thanks. I just sent an Abstein (Not sure of other name) to PSA. I'll look closer when I get it back.

Just curious, I have a t206 Hummel, graded a PSA 6 (MC) name on top and bottom. The names are only half. Does the MC marker take away from the value?

Yes. Many will price/value a MC flip at the current grade minus two. In your case, the value would be that of a four.

I personally will pay a premium for 'good' miscuts with the full name at top. Somewhere in the 2-3x range of standard value.

I've been able to pick up four two name cards. I value them around that $400 mark Chris mentioned. My Chase-Zimmerman and Bradley-Bender a little more because of the players involved.

I've seen that same poor image posted here at least twice now - someone needs to create a better scan.

(it went for around $350)

Should be picking up my ???/Abstein tomorrow. It's a PSA2 with MC qualifier. Thank you PSA for the bullshit grade and 7 week wait! I'll figure out who the other name is tomorrow and will post pictures, after I get it.

Edited to add it will be broken out of it's slab the second I get it home. Thanks again PSA. Will never to business with PSA again.

After scanning at 1200 DPI, it turns out to be an Abstein/Abstein. What a bummer. Hard to read at top because it's in a PSA slab. I'll post scans in a Tobacco (T) cards B/S/T thread.

aw man!!!

THAT SUCKKZZZZZZZZZZZ:eek:

but trust me, you have to get a few bombs before you get lucky sometimes....;) DO NOT GIVE UP FAITH!!! it's like a treasure hunt, and when you hit 'em, OH BOY!!!

i can't tell you the number of "by-product" t206 i have acquired when searching for gemz(missing inks/2 names/ ghosts/ scraps/ missing color/print ect)......

but when u land a good one, kinda makes up for the little bombs...

DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED:)

Peace
