Legendary winnings

Legendary had terrific offerings in this auction. I completely forgot about it til day two, so I missed out on the pinbacks I wanted. I was however, elated to have won this honey. It's in terrific shape and has impressive detail and height (13"). I love it :D

Very nice. I didn't even know a new Legendary auction was going on...guess I got dropped from their mailing list as I didn't get a catalog this time.

Actually, did anyone get a catalog from Legendary? I also did not get a catalog, but figured that mine probably got lost in the mail.

Yes, two actually, one for the Drier Collection lots and one for the rest of the auction (featuring Graig's Cobb painting on the cover).

Legendary Lot #1696

If a Board member won this lot of 2 Washington Nats Photo Album books http://www.legendaryauctions.com/Lot...archvalue=1949 solely to obtain the 1950 book with all the signatures, I'd be delighted to take the 1949 book off your hands! Kindly email me at ekehl333@aol.com.
Thanks,
Val

I bought this Walter Johnson 1908 postcard in the Legendary auction last night. I thought it was a special piece. I like the idea of the Big Train sitting down and writing a postcard to his friend after a win. It was only a few months into his second big league season. Signed Walter J.

Thanks for the feedback fellas...sorry Murph...I did get the catalogs which is how I remembered the auction was taking place. Had they not been sitting on my nightstand, I would have forgotten. :D

I received the catalog about a week before the auction. It all came in 2 volumes

glchen 03-04-2013 01:29 PM

Thanks all, I guess mine just got lost in the mail like I originally thought.

Is that Gibson in his Omaha Cardinals uniform, Derek? If so, 1957-59 would be correct, 1953 would be way too early. Also, Gibson batted right-handed, the player in the photo is batting lefty, maybe someone else...........

I was thinking the same thing - Omaha uniform - 1957-58, despite the date on photo. I figured the bat handed ness was either because it was a posed shot or perhaps he switch-hit before the majors??? It does look like Gibson from afar, do you agree??

Does Legendary simply make up their LOA's??

Yep, you beat me out on this. It's a tight month, and I was high bidder on 3 bats, so when you upped this one, I let it go. (Won one of them, lost the 3rd the next night.)

I'd love to know how high you would've gone on this, or maybe I wouldn't!

Ken

We would need a better scan of the photo to tell if it is Gibson or not.
