LOTG Results

I got home from work at midnight pst and the auction was still going strong. It looks like a mixed bag of strong prices and bargains had. There are definitely a few items I would have bid a little stronger on if I could do it again, but I did win a few T3's at fair prices so I'm happy with my take.

I'm surprised no one wanted that gorgeous (insert sarcasm) Yogi Berra giclee or the Phil Rizzuto signed ceramic cow :D

Nice pick up Chris! I just woke up to found I won this one well below the top-all bid I left last night. It is nice to be able to bid in an auction I can trust to do that with. Thanks Al.

I woke up and found I won a pfeffer ab 460 and the group of 5 ab350s with 2 cubbies. They both went for my max, but I considered my maximum to be a reasonably low price that I was very happy to get them for

I agree. Thanks, Al. Its very nice to wake up and find that all my max bids haven't been, well, maxed.

Won 3 lots incl the lone Buchner N284, a nice upgrade from my SGC-20
As always, Al runs a top-notch auction house

+1

I was eying that but never pulled the trigger. Glad a board member picked it up. Very cool.

Hey Conor,

I really like the Leach - a beauty!

I grabbed a couple items including the T207 Wood:

Thanks. The corner wear is a little heavier than I usually like, but I think the colors and image quality more than make up for it. I'm pretty excited about it.

Great looking 207. That set has really been catching my eye lately. That Wood is just about as nice of a 2 as your ever going to see. Great pickup.

Does anyone see the Pay Online button? It doesn't show up in my account.

Is that guys name Ernest Porn?

I thought the same thing at first, but, I checked a few other cards of his collection in the auction and his last name was "Born."

I think it's funny the flip says "looking left", when in fact he's looking right. Is "looking left" the official designation of that card or is that a PSA screw-up?

With N172 pose descriptions, there is a somewhat complicated system that goes something like this...when the reference is to a part of the subject's body, the description is from that perspective (ie. bat on left shoulder = the player's left shoulder...not on the viewer's left). However, in terms of other directions (ie. looking left, leaning left, etc.) it is described from the viewer's perspective...so Watch is looking to the viewer's left.

Get it ...I know, it is maybe unduly complicated...

(And in truth, the Burnam description is redundant, since there is only the one pose...no need for the distinction provided by the description.)

Cheers,
Blair

Ahhh, Who's on Second?

Well, it was my first experience bidding with an auction house, and it went very well. I collect Pittsburg(h) players, and have a soft spot for catchers. I wanted to add a N172 to my small collection, so bidding on the Bill Farmer (Lot 71) was a no-brainer.
I not only won, but for less than my max, which was well below what I figured it would go for. What a great way to wake up yesterday.

I was also able to grab my first win with LOTG this past auction. I really enjoyed the ability to pay online. I wish more AHs provided this service.
