Bogus Doublefolds on eBay

Gee isn't that identical paper loss on the back of each card convenient? This seller also has a lot of 54 Dan Dee cards with the same paper loss. He also has a lot of Fan Craze but I don't know enough about THEM to confirm their being bogus. I have reported the Mecca and the Dan Dee.

Here is a link to the lot

Here is a link to an actual reprint for sale as a reprint

Here is a lot of reprint Dan Dees

Here is the lot with the "reprint" obscured by paper loss.

Thanks for the heads up. Isn't it amazing how the paper loss on cards happens an unusual amount of times right where the word "reprint" would have been? What a coincidence!!

Leon, Have you an opinion on the Fan Craze lot? I don't know that issue enough to declare them bogus as well.

The Fan Craze are fake too. The player images are too dark and muddy looking. Still, a 97% seller feedback rating has got to boost confidence:rolleyes:

EDITED to add: The artificial aging on the Fan Craze backs is amateurish also. I haven't collected this set in more than ten years but I don't recall ever seeing a Fan Craze card with that type and extent of back "wear".

Todd, Thaks for chiming in. I thought they were sham also but wan't sure. I reported the Mecca and the Dan-Dee before I left the house this morning. I cannot access eBay here at work. If you would be so kind, please report the Fan Craze as bogus.....:)

As Todd said, bad fakes. Not even good ones. They should be crisp pictures on the cards. And the backs should be bright, like this one.

Larry Fritsch produced the Fan Craze reprint set about 10-15 years ago, no?

"First" produced, we should say -- still available here:

The Fan Crazes are definitely fakes shown in the far right image below. The corners are too rounded and they all seem to have excessive wear in the lower left area of the card where the word reprint might appear.

The images on the left show you an actual reprint that is currently for sale on eBay. In this case the seller discloses that its a reprint. Lower left corner says "REPRINT". The corners are more rounded than the authentic ones that are shown in the middle.

Mike, excellent catch on these T201s. It's amazing to me how many fakes get sold on ebay.

That's why we take the time to post the bogus listings. Us Net 54-ers gotta watch out for each other.:):D

Thanks Sean....I wonder what percentage we "out", though.....

T201's

He knew they were fake. I sent him a message telling him what to look for and I sent him a link to this thread. His response was "If you don't like it then don't bid.

I'm hoping the winning bidder is one of us and hangs the seller out to dry.

Bocabirdman 05-14-2013 06:18 PM

Ugh....so much for reporting the lot. It still sold for $96 +$6....for reprints. Someone is going to be pissed.....

cardsfan73 05-14-2013 11:30 PM

For what it's worth I went through and reported each of his vintage lots to ebay. I let them know he is altering the card backs to remove the word reprint. Maybe if we all take time to report the listings we can prevent someone else from getting ripped off.

I am really thankful for all the honest folks we have here at Net54 who look out for one another. Thanks!

still has bogus cards up...

This seller still has several lots of aged reprints up that he is selling as originals. I have reported all of them to ebay with clear explanations on how to see they are reprints and they have done nothing.

I'd reported them as well after seeing the OP. Sad to see little is being done by Ebay.

Dan Dee's

The Dan Dee auction ended a few minutes ago and he already got a neg for them.

He's down to 95%. How long will ebay let him sell?
