What would you pay?

The Bruces memorial "Worlds Greatest Wantlist" thread gave me an idea.

What would you pay for the card(s) you desire?

Ultimately...book values of rarely found/sold cards are useless in this day and age. When someone sees a card they really want...they need to decide what it's worth to them. So how much would you be willing to pay for a card you "NEED?"

Maybe this will stimulate some dealing?

I'll start it off...For the Miller big gloves I need in decent shape...I'd pay the following:

e92 blue back crofts candy $500
e92 Nadja $1000
E105 $1000
D303 mothers $1500
T216 Kotton $1500
T216 VE $1000...only because its most likely all torn up.

I would pay strong very strong for a EX or strong VGEX T210 Benny and throw a VG Benny in for free.

How the hell is she able to stand upright? http://www.postcount.net/forum/images/smilies/VN/18.gif

Right about then, I'm thinking Johnny Carson's famous words Dolly Parton were going through Bob's head. "I would give about a year's pay to peek under there".

1921 Zeenut Jigger Statz...

It's hard to grasp value on cards that don't come up for sale, ever.

A nice one would be worth $500 to me. Some might think I'm low, some might think I'm crazy.

ullmandds 08-07-2013 06:21 AM

Matt...agreed...and that's kinda my point of this exercise. What is your white "whale" worth...to you...never mind what the guides say...they mean nothing.

Maybe this will pry some "whales" out of collections...and into yours and mine?!?!

Pete - great idea for a thread -

e104-2 Ham Hyatt - $500
Any e104-3 common - at least $1000 (more depending on grade)

I would pay $10,000 for a D355 Niagara baking in decent shape. It's an E101 with a purple stamp on the back that says Niagara Baking.....and I actually think I will eventually get one for a lot less....but that would be my snipe price on one....great thread Pete!!

ullmandds 08-07-2013 07:57 AM

Thanks Leon. This idea struck me yesterday as a...what I thought would be a...great idea for a website. But since I am merely a tech-challenged dentist...I started a thread!

IT seems odd to me how these niagara baking cards even got catalogued...seeing as there are so few of them. How is this different from other "common" issues with obscure back stamps. Surely a lot of these late teens...early 20's caramel/candy cards with back stamps are not catalogued?!
