I have a signed Spaulding horsehide baseball signed by Dizzy Dean. I was wondering if anyone could help me determine a value for the ball.

Dean Value

Value certainly depends on the type of ball & its overall condition... your example has nice appeall and a pretty even tone from what I can see...

PSA autograph facts lists a ss ball at $1300, but they seem to run the gamut between 500-1000 in this type of condition on ebay

I think you have something in the 6-700 range

Nice piece!

It would help if you could show the rest of the ball. The only detractor seems to be the toning, but it's hard to guage the extent of it (seeing only that one view).

Judging by the one currently in Heritage (and other that have recently sold at auction), yours may well be worth 4 figures.

I would agree with Perezfan with a higher figure. I think over $1000 is more realistic. The ball has good eye appeal with a nice dark signature. Nice piece

I think Richard had a nice Dean ball last week at $2500 or $4000 I don't remember

Thanks for all your help. Would any if you know the time period for that type of ball. My grandfather was one who got Dizzy Dean to sign the ball when Dizzy came through town playing ball. Supposedly Dizzy Dean played on a traveling team that came to a mill town here and played against the local mill team. My grandfather managed the mill and had Dean sign the ball. I am trying to go through old newspapers to see if I can back the story up, so I need to know the time frame of the ball if possible to narrow down the search in the papers. Any help is much appreciated.

Can you show the Spalding logo on the bottom panel?

Dizzy Dean ball

I have a similar ball and similar story. Dizzy was an acquaintance of a family member in South Dakota, came back to go pheasant hunting, and in the process signed a ball. I have the ball and the photo of him (and wife Pat) standing with some local kids, including a cousin. Does the photo add any value as far as the story goes. Not one to sell this, just thought I ought to know. I've been told the ball itself is a $750 piece but that was 10 years ago.

$2500.
The ball is just slightly off white, with an outstanding signature.
