Babe Ruth hit more homers than the other 35 players born on this date 714-687. Amazing stat is that the next five on the list for most homers were all Pirates players for a stretch, Richie Zisk, Dale Long, Smoky Burgess, Glenn Wright and Pedro Alvarez. Not exactly a group of no names.

I don't have any Ruth cards, but I have something I like a little more. The bat William Bendix used(and took home) in the Babe Ruth Story. His niece(a family friend) gave it to me when I was eight

HBD to The Babe, Ronald Reagan and my wife.
I'm a big fan of all 3!

Greatest Player Ever

Not only was he the greatest, setting pitching and hitting records, not only did he popularize the homerun-- arguably the quintessential symbol of the American ethos-- but the man had volcanic charisma. Somehow little kids today even know his name.

One of the interesting-not trying to be morbid-quirks. Babe Ruth was born on this date and Ralph Kiner passed away today.

Mike Jorgensen was born on the same day Ruth died and he had a decent 17 year career. Ruth passed away on August 16th, same date as Tommie Aaron(Hank's brother) and Bobby Thomson.

Babe when he was a Babe - well, sort of. 1915 Spring Training team photo, with Babe front row center like you might expect....

That is a really cool photo! The Babe with his weapon! Scary!

And with Jacob Ruppert to boot!! (Might be HIS only "period" card)? Awesome!

No 1923 Lections Ruths here?

Best wishes,

Yeah Ken, the Ruppert added in along with the setting for when the signed his contract it 1933. It has quickly become my favorite in my collection.

One of my all time fav's. Love the 30's art deco feel. Great cards all. Babe had a bunch of cool cards for sure.
