Future National sites
I was wondering about the sites for the 2015 and 2016 Nationals if anyone knows. Unfortunately I'm going to have to pass on Cleveland this year but I definitely want to go (God and health willing) in 2015 and 2016. I thought Chicago was 2015 but wasn't sure where it would be in 2016....Thanks.

Thanks guys. Have fun in Cleveland, I wish I were going just to see my card friends...

2016 should be a good one. Talk about an expensive weekend.

I am born and raised just a couple miles from the site, and will be in C-town just a few weeks before the show visiting family. Would love to go, but I can't get back so soon after. Argh.

Any reason why the last several Nationals are in the northeast and/or midwest/midnorth? Are the demographics such that most baseball memorabilia dealers or collectors most proliferate in those geographical areas?
Just wondering why there is no Texas love since the Arlington National back in the early 1990s….. :D |

While I cannot speak for the committee, I believe it was mentioned that part of the problem is the venues. Many have restrictions that limit it's usability for a National. I know at one point the Javits center was discussed, but, IIRC, Mike Berkus told a story that all items needed to be handled by the union. That means setting up tables, bringing in and carrying out of the boxes of goods of each dealer. Again, IIRC, he stated that because of this, dealer fees would be something like $2600 per table, which just isn't doable. He also addressed issues with using the venues in San Fran and Anaheim. I don't remember all the details, but there were many reasons. If you did a search on Net54, I think you would probably be able to find the thread where the discussion took place.

I won't be going to Cleveland either - it's all about logistics.
Why is Leon not having the dinner this year? |
Unfortunately, as of my purchase yesterday, I won't be able to make it either. Previous to that, I had already cut the show short due to Leon not having the dinner. Hopefully he will have it again in AC.

I am hoping to be there for that one. |
That's too bad. I always enjoy seeing you at the show Bob. Also too bad about the dinner. That is always a social highlight of the show. Chicago is a quantum leap better in terms of venue and logistics but oddly enough I have had better luck historically speaking at finding good items in Cleveland versus Chicago.

Adam -- I suspect that is Cleveland's one major advantage of Chicago. Because it is a one-day drive from the megalopolis (sic) for the most part, more East Coast Dealers make their way to Cleveland. And because the hobby was always a tad stronger on the east coast more of your tupe of material is available

Yes, my Festival of Bric a Brac definitely does better with more junk boxes to go through...

That is too bad there won't be a Net54 dinner. It was the highlight of the National experience.
