Whats the deal with the T207 Donlin

2 Attachment(s)
So this card came in a lot of t207's and t205's that I purchased last night... I was primarily after the t205's but got interested in the t207's after I googled a few prices on my iphone....

I saw a few auction results on the Donlin, but not listed as one of the famed shortprints...

Card looks to have been trimmed, but measures 2 & 5/8 from corner to corner with a little excess in the bottom middle about 1/16th...

Love to hear the story as to why this one has high demand if anyone is willing to offer...

Best Regards,
David

Donlin is a very popular star, but what makes this T207 in high demand is the BROAD LEAF back.

It behooves you to post this thread in the pre-WWII section of this forum.

You will get a bigger response to your questions.

Bottom definitely looks trimmed. Clean o/w. Broad leaf backs are VERY much in demand. Shame it wasn't a T206 Broad leaf. Those have gone completely crazy. Still should be a nice card even with the trim.

Donlin

Yes my gut initially said trimmed on this one, but corner to corer it measures right... Almost as if there is excess paper on that location... The entire lot was broadleaf... Could this card potentially have been trimmed from a sheet?

Maybe. Do any of the others match up into pairs?

Sheet

Really tough to tell but virtually all are broadleaf

I have to respectfully disagree with my fellow collectors. The Donlin with the Cycle back is the most desire and most expensive of the Donlin cards. The Donlin card is a very tough card in the set because of it's being one of the scarcer cards offered only with Cycle, Briadleaf and Anonymous backs. Donlin and Pelty don't get the notoriety but they are tougher to find than the 'Big 3' of Lewis, Lowdermilk and W. Miller.
If you've ever put this set together card by card (I've done it 3 times) you'll know Donlin and Pelty are the keys.
