TA-DA!! __Member 'slipk1068' WINS!! __ 2014 Atlanta Braves OFFENSIVE Raffle

1 Attachment(s)
I love the Atlanta Braves, but lately they have really been testing my devotion. Through the third inning tonight (9/16 Game #151) they have score a total of 547 runs which is next to last in all of baseball.

This has been an especially brutal season for us Braves fans as we lost two good young pitchers before the season even started. The money invested in free agent and home-grown hitters seems to be for naught...or next to it.

So, I had to find a way to cheer them on:

The plan - a set of (12) 2014 Bowman cards of Braves Players and (1) 1967 Topps card of Atlanta immortal Ty Cline goes to the person whose guess comes closest to the total number of runs the 'mighty' Braves will wind up scoring.

Attachment 160894

The Bowman cards are Beachy, Johnson, Simmons, Gattis, Kimbrel, Minor, Medlen, Freeman, J.Upton, Bethancourt, Teheran, & Heyward.

Regular Season only now...postseason totals do not count LOL

Limit 2 guesses per member (no editing allowed)...The closest guess wins all 13 cards!

GoldenAge50s 09-16-2014 07:16 PM

I'll say 590 runs!

clydepepper 09-16-2014 07:56 PM

Update:

The Braves were shut out tonight 3-0, so their total remains 547 now through 151 games.

Side note: Braves' radio announcer referred to the 'Great Braves Hitting Coach' Greg Walker.

Ya Gotta Believe?

wolf441 09-16-2014 08:02 PM

I'll go 598!! Good luck, my Red Sox are sandwiching last place finishes around a world championship...

Rich - they're really bad, but I don't think they will have runs taken away from them...still, you guess will win if it is the closest...and heads and batting helmets will definitely be lost if you win!

Tonight's 1st inning is so typical:

P Gosselin singled to center. 0 0
A Simmons grounded into fielder's choice to shortstop, P Gosselin out at second. 0 0
F Freeman singled to center, A Simmons to second. 0 0
J Upton grounded into double play, second to shortstop to first, F Freeman out at second. 0 0

The Braves won 3-1 Wednesday night, bring their season run total to 550.

No, this was not a season high.

Go Bucs. Hope we hold the Braves offensive output to a minimum and celebrate a playoff clinching in Atlanta next week. Wouldn't quite make up for Sid Bream sliding but it's a start. Just hope Jerry Meals is nowhere near that series.

When do guess have to be in? I have my first but I didn't know if I could wait until the 9th inning of the last game to post my second guess :p

Which one of you was tossed out of the game last night?

Oh, that's right! I should have stated in the 'rules' that you, yourself, cannot contribute to the Braves inability to score (runs)- even though it does look easy enough to do. Scott- you forgot to guess...Don't worry, I promise not to throw in any Uggla cards.

soccersaver97 09-19-2014 01:37 PM

581 and 584

GoldenAge50s 09-19-2014 01:56 PM

I'll do 580 for my 2nd guess.

To recap--I have 580 & 590.

clydepepper 09-19-2014 08:46 PM

Update: 550 and holding

Mets 5 Braves 0 14th shutout

Stuck on 550?

I'd like to take a moment to recognize the brilliant architects of the incredible offensive production:

GM Frank Wrenn

Co-Hitter Coaches (takes two to be this bad) Greg Walker & Scott Fletcher

Take a bow, guys...and don't let the door hit you on the butt when you leave.

We, the dwindling crowd, will turn out the lights.

After only 20 years, I guess a new stadium is the answer.

clydepepper 09-21-2014 05:50 AM

Update: BRAVES SCORE TWICE...but...

The Mets scored four- bringing the sad running total to 552.

Monday ( 9/22 ) night is the last opportunity to make informed guesses on the Braves final season total of Runs Scored , though the season (which seems to be endless when you're struggling) will end quietly next Sunday ( 9/28 ).

Winner will be informed Sunday ( 9/28 ) night and cards will be shipped as soon as I have your mailing address.

Thanks to all who have participated - it has helped me stay interested.

Come on braves. Lets just get 2-4 runs (I assume 572 would go to me since my guess was in first), no more and no less. :D

That is a true fact!

wolf441 09-28-2014 07:33 AM

What would piss off Braves fans more, if they got shut out again today, or if they threw up about 18 runs in the last, meaningless game of the season??!!

Gee, you didn't say not to count their Playoff & WS runs.
