It's gotta have something to do with being a player-manager?

nolemmings 02-24-2017 06:29 PM

All were both player and manager for the team shown on the cards and during the season those cards were issued.

Both are very close, but there is more to it. There are many other player managers I could have selected with the card/year concept.

I dont know what it could be

they all had winning records that year?

Exhibitman 02-25-2017 03:59 PM

They were all $hit canned by their teams?

David W 02-25-2017 06:16 PM

They are the only MLB player managers still living.

It's been 30 years since Rose was the last one.

Volod 02-26-2017 01:04 AM

We'll probably never see another one. The field manager's job has become so compartmentalized and tricky, it is really too much to expect a guy to deal with it, while at the same time producing as a bench player. Some of the guys on those cards had plenty of trouble with it, especially handling other players and the media.
