I watched a live 1865 Baseball Game this weekend

So this past weekend I came across the Athletic Baseball Club who plays matches with 1865 rules and using uniforms, bats and balls from that era.
It was a very interesting thing to see and a free event.

Figured it might be worth passing on here as there are clubs in the NY, PA, DE, and MD areas.

The PA clubs site is http://www.phillyvintagebaseball.org

CT as well

Several teams play in Central Connecticut as well. Jim Bulldog Bouton (of Ball Four fame) has pitched for my 1886 era team for several years now.

Bluegrass Barons

I actually play on a vintage base ball team. We are the Bluegrass Barons from Lexington Kentucky. We are currently the only vintage team in Kentucky so we travel to TN, OH, and other surrounding areas to play.

We play 1869 rules.

June 8th we were lucky enough to play at Great American Ballpark right before the Reds played the Cardinals

I'll try to upload some pictures, but if not we are on FB.

Vintage bball

I saw a game about two weeks ago in Franconia, NH, between the Maine (I think Orchard Beach) Dirigos and the New Hampshire Granites. Maine plays 1860's rules and NH 1880's, and the first game was 1860's rules.

It was a lot of fun, and I learned a few things about the game. They finished early and actually decided to play another game, 1880's rules, but I was too sunburnt to stay. Big props to the left fielder who caught everything, line drives included, barehanded, and one player who hook-slid into first, full speed, everytime, because apparently you couldn't overrun first then.

I thin the Dirigos are a travelling team, and play around NE. I think they have a few games against the Boston Beaneaters upcoming if anyone is in that area.
