Im trying to bid. The increments on the few lots I looked at is HUGE. The increment to go from $100 to the next step, $125 is 25%. IMHO, that is too big a jump. I will try to give you some bids, but it's not looking promising.

bobbyw8469 06-05-2018 11:03 AM

Even on $50 bids, with the increment being $25 each step, that is a 50% increase!!!!!!!!!!! Too much. If the auction gets tweaked in the future, let me know, I will bid.

Bobby,
I appreciate your post. This is something we will keep in mind for future auctions.

Don't feed the trolls . . . Just kidding:)

I did find something in my wheelhouse that I was able to bid on (A higher dollar item), but I'm being 100% sincere. When you have an opening bid of $50, to have the next increment be $75 is a HUGE jump, especially when the item is a lower dollar item to begin with anyway.

The quickest and easiest thing to do would to use the "forgotten password" link. If you don't remember your username either please let me know and I will message you with the info.

As a bidder, I like this type of auction. It allows someone to 'perch' on the highest feasible ledge and allows for a nice gain if you want to flip the card. IE, if the card is worth $75, you 'perch' on $50, pay the 20% premium, and get a nice $15 savings on the card since nobody would pay $75+20% on something that's only worth $75.

As a consignor, I'd never list my cards with an auction house that had large 'perches' like this. Sorry, Craig.

Hmm

I just want to know how it came to be that someone ended up with a group of 66 1959 Orlando Cepeda cards.

barrysloate 06-05-2018 02:18 PM

You can never have too many 1959 Cepedas.

btcarfagno 06-05-2018 02:29 PM

That is kind of neat though. If such a lot for a mid 60's Stargell were to ever appear I would take a stab at it for shits and giggles.

This came from a hoarder collector. In our Invitational Auction coming this summer (dates to be announced soon), we have nearly 1 million cards and many many from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

Should have released them over time - one per about every 18 months - so the prices stay high:)
