Love Big Ed. Thanks for starting this in the midst of some negative things happening in the hobby. All 5 poses took me 15 years nearly. I will get some better images on this post soon.

Hi Connor I'm a Phillies fan, too. And yes, I'm an Ed Delahanty fan, also. Imagine what he would have achieved, had he not had that freak accident. Really nice collection....thanks for posting your cards. I started this thread, so we can get back to the central theme of this forum. It borders on the ridiculous when 50 - 60 % of the 1st page of Net54 (35 posts) is about a "timebomb" which many knew was inevitable. " Gee, it's shocking - - it's shocking ! ! That card trimming is going on. " TED Z T206 Reference . |
Could not agree more Ted.
Ted,
I could not agree more. Thank you for starting this and your kind words—and hopefully someone will post his 1903 Briesh Williams. I read the other day when they found Big Ed after his fall- one of his legs was missing. Tragic. I think he would be regarded as the HR king over roger Connor and greatest player of the 19th century if he didn’t have his “accident” |

Here is Big Ed as a member of the 1890 Cleveland Players’ League team (along with Pete Browning). Amazing how bad the team was with these two on it. |
Thanks for sharing Scott. Beautiful/clean central image.

Great thread. Big Big Ed fan here. Lucky enough to own some Delahanty's that came from the family. Here are Ed, brother Tom, Ed's sis Catherine and the Delahanty clan's mom Bridget. You can see the ID's on the back.
Cool to note, on the back of Ed it says return to an address on Payne Ave. I was able to find in a 1924 Cleveland City Directory that in fact was the address of the Delahanty saloon. Hope you like... |

The picture on this postcard is of course Frank Delehanty, however he played for New York, AL. His brother Jim played for Washington. Attachment 357926 |

Ed Delahanty is probably my favorite 19th century player. Love seeing all of these great cards of him. Here is my matching N173 Cabinet to Marc's beautiful N172.

I picked up this one 20 years ago. The border had some issues and it just presented a little better this way.
