March Philly Show
Anyone else going to the Philly Show this weekend? I'm getting ready to head to it this morning.

I will be there around 9:00 this morning. I have a few things for JSA to be authenticated.

I’ll be there as well. It was a solid showing yesterday as well.

Went Friday after work. Best show in the tri-state area.
Plenty of pre-war and vintage. Picked up this T206 Wadell and a 53 Topps Mantle. |

Great Show with lots of great dealers and cards |
Tom Botticelli and I are here at booth 710. Stop by and say hi if you haven't already.

Unbelievable attendance last night.
Come see Dan McKee and me at Booth #412......lots of T cards. Ted Z . |
Overflow parking is already near capacity off site. The hobby is healthy!
|
Heard it is gangbuster, especially raw cards.
Also heard the Dallas show was not that busy and very limited vintage. |
Came at 9:30 and a line wrapped around the bottom floor to just get tickets to get in.

John, amazing Waddell portrait! I saw lots of nice tobacco cards, and that one is excellent.
I went after work on Friday, so I got there by 5:30. It was busy. Not crazy, but busy. You could walk up to just about any table and say hello, check out the cases, ask on prices. By about 7:00, you could tell fatigue was setting in, and most of the people behind the tables were starting to get that glazed-eye exhausted look. I was only there for 2 hours, so I didn't see every table. I did spend some time talking with Howard (hcv123 on net54). Knowledgeable, friendly, and a very passionate Clemente collector. Nice inventory spanning tobacco, all the way to vintage. Some nice hockey cards too. I was able to grab this one, the only card I bought on Friday. A real beauty. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e8aed6c7_c.jpg I went this morning with a friend. Arrived a few minutes before 9:00 and as someone else mentioned, the line to enter the show was wrapped around the room 1.5 times!! We walked around until about 12:00 and tried to stop by the areas of the room that I had missed on Friday. It was MUCH more crowded than Friday. Difficult to pass through the aisles. Not just browsing either. There was business being done at just about every table. I imagine this is a great show for dealers. When we walked upstairs to grab a bite to eat, there was another 100+ people lined up to buy tickets. Just an amazing showing that is a great look for the strength of the hobby. Here were my finds today (sorry for the modern, but Duncan and Wade seem to be underrated): https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ec6e1b5e_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...43ab7811_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b3452970_c.jpg As for what you'll find there? Nearly everything. Baseball, football, basketball, hockey, F1, wrestling, unopened, vintage, pre-war, raw, mid-level graded, high-end graded, pennants, memorabilia, LOTS of oddball items (I saw Rose postcards!). Prices are strong, but for the most part, not unreasonable. And as always, just ask on price...you never know what the answer will be. If you don't ask, the answer is already no. I was even able to make a trade (for the 74 Ryan & 69 Mays), which I know can be an interesting subject around dealers. And if a card is nice for the grade, it will be priced accordingly, and that's the way it should be. Totally worth the time spent to get there. |
Show was packed today. Talking to some dealers it sounded like there was a decent amount of business but also that the attendance was high because of the numerous autographs available today so not everyone there was looking to buy cards. Overall, still a great selection of vintage and pre-war cards to be found.

Thanks for the reports everyone. Ian, great group of cards there. They all have awesome eye appeal.

Here are my Philly Show pickups. Been selling my modern cards to buy more vintage lately.
Edit: I want to thank Bill B. for the Cobb Bat on Shoulder. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...743895de2f.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fe992125af.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Fantastic Rob. Smart to move modern into T206 Cobb's.

I was set up at the front of the show
The line on Saturday went from 9AM through almost 1PM!! I never saw anything like it! Friday sales were very robust - one of the best shows I have ever had. Saturday while attendance was INSANE, sales were slower. Sunday for the first time at a show I did better than Saturday! People bought a little bit of everything from me. As always - great to meet see some Net 54 guys - thank you for the kind words and enjoy the 55 Mays Ian!

March Philly Show
Friday and Saturday reminded me the ole Fort Washington days at the Philly Show. And, the huge crowds at this Valley Forge Show were there to buy.
I had 200+ T206 cards with me. On display were AB 350, AB 460, CYCLE 460, EPDG, OLD MILL, PIEDMONT 350 (Elite 11), POLAR BEAR, SOVEREIGN, TOLSTOI, and Red HINDU. And speaking about "Red".....my T206 inventory included a Red Cobb (SOVEREIGN 350). All these T206's with the tougher backs sold (except my Spencer with the PIEDMONT 350 back). And finally, the "icing on the cake" to make my show was when the Red Cobb sold. Just thought that some of you guys would appreciate a detailed example of what was selling...... 75% of my sales this weekend were T206's & T205's. Furthermore, it was really nice to meet and talk with Net54 guys, who visited with Dan McKee and me at our booth during the weekend. TED Z T206 Reference . |

My sales pattern at this Show was very similar to yours. Friday was "booming", and although the attendance was as crowded on Saturday as it was on Friday, I was not as busy selling (or trading) cards on Sat. Though, I had a good number of Net54 visitors on Saturday....and we had a lot of fun "Talking BB cards". The Sunday crowd was, as usual, considerably lower; however, I had some very serious customers, which equaled the magnitude of the sales I had on Friday. TED Z T206 Reference . |
