Zinn Beck Joe Jackson bat

Hi everybody,

I'm trying to get some information about a bat a friend of mine just found. It's made by the Zinn Beck Bat of Greenville, SC, and is listed as the "type of bat used by Joe Jackson." I'm hoping to buy it, but I'm looking for an estimate of its value before I do. I figure it's store-bought, but I want to make sure its from that time period, and not something produced later as a fantasy piece.

I appreciate any feedback,

Chris

It certainly looks like a genuine Zinn Beck bat, but absolutely produced in the years after Jackson’s professional career.

Very cool bat! Im not a bat expert by any means but I think Beck bats are pretty pricy and I have not seen a Joe Jackson before and that would be probably one of the priciest. It's a cool item because Jackson was from the Greenville area. And yes it was from his playing era. I'd bet it would be in the thousands but again I have very limited bat knowledge...Jackson playing period stuff is usually high

What size is it?

These bats were manufactured in the early to mid 1920's so after he was banned from the major leagues but certainly during his post career barnstorming playing days. I have seen some considered professional model bats. Not sure but assume there were retail models as well and I have no idea what the differences were. It is an interesting Joe Jackson artifact but I do not know the value. The chances of it having been used by Jackson I would say is likely near zero but it would still have some value. There are certainly expert bat members here who will likely comment with a lot more information than I have.

Similar Bats with a Ty Cobb designation have sold for $4,000 and $8,000 in auction in the past few years

A Sisler one went for $300 in 2021

Compare the bat to known Jackson bats in size and weight, if they match then you could be in the same price range or you may not

I have one but mine is marked Extra Special. I hope you are able to get it, it looks like a beautiful bat.
