Anyone win these items at Lelands yesterday? (Jackie photo and Dodgers lineup cards)

Hey all,

Somehow I thought the Lelands auction ended tonight and so missed out on items I wanted to pursue (I don't seem to have gotten any reminders yesterday that the auction was ending... is that standard for them?)

Anyways, there were a couple of items that sold that I was interested in and would love to know if someone here won them:

- Sal Maglie no-hitter lineup card
- 1953 Jackie Robinson Barnstorming Tour team photo

If anyone won either of them (whether you are considering trading/selling them or if you want to hold them) I'd love to know.

Thanks!

Jeff, guilty on the Sal Maglie Line-up Cards. Can't see myself trading them and I plan to break them out of their PSA shells as soon as they arrive. I did consider going after the barnstorming photo, but photos generally aren't my thing, no matter how cool. I can't say why you didn't get any updates from Lelands as I got 2 e-mails Friday and 2 more on Saturday showing the current status of my bids.

Maury Wills

I thought it was interesting that the description of the barnstorming photo didn't include a mention of a very recognizable young Maury Wills in a Miami hat and Dodgers uniform, front row center.
Great image.

Great image.

Wills played on that team many years before making the Majors. I have a signed baseball from that team with Wills on it along with a program. Was really hoping to pair them with the photo but missed out.

Hey Rick,

I was kind of wondering/hoping you had snagged them once I realized I missed them. (And I would have cracked them out immediately as well - and probably carefully removed the paper from the back.)

Great pickups!

I got the 'current status' emails but didn't have a chance to look too closely. Most other auction houses send emails with "final day of bidding" in giant letters and some also have "Final hour of bidding before extended bidding" emails

hi Jeff, I know what you mean about the barrage of e-mails that usually go out with alerts of auction closings, but I guess Lelands doesn't do that. While I like getting a reminder on the auction closing day, I got 6 auction countdown warning emails from Mile High last Thursday. I think that's a little excessive.

I only go after Dodger line-up cards, and with these being for a no-hitter and having 5 of the 6 Brooklyn HOFer's in the lineup (only missing Koufax) they really hit the target for me. I'll let you know if I decide to part with them as some point.

Any advice on attempting to remove the paper on the back? Have you had success removing scrapbook paper?

Rick

Totally get that. Happy to talk if you ever move it, but also happy to appreciate it from afar. I have no illusions of being able to own everything, and am happy knowing it's in a collection worthy of it.

On removing the paper, I'm definitely not an expert, but I have been able to remove scrapbook paper by using a bit of water and a lot of patience.
