I’ll start things off with this Sandy Koufax. One step closer to the ‘56 set. :-)

Picked this up last week but forgot to post.

Technically July show pickups, but I’ll leave the old thread be. Very happy with these 2.

The Mantle is lower grade, but has great color. Same color wise on Hank, which can be a tough find. I passed a lot of ‘59 Aaron’s up last year but this one fit the bill:

Received back earlier this week from Anderson, Indiana. Carl was born there in 1926. At age 96, he is one of 7 living former Brooklyn Dodgers, and is the last to have played in the '55 World Series for the only Brooklyn championship team. What a kind gesture to still be signing cards. He would have signed this on or about the weekend his son was accepting the Buck O'Neil award on his behalf in Cooperstown. Incredibly, Carl is not the oldest player to sign TTM for me this year. Bobby Shantz is the last living Philadelphia Athletic, and will be 98 in September.

What a beautiful signature for 96 yo. My grandma got real shaky with her cursive in her 90s and it was hard to read. he still has good flow and slant!

Recent pickup from the Collector Connection auction. As always, it was a pleasure to deal with Scott and his team!

Andy arrived today to bring my 1952 Low Number set to 309/310. Just missing an Amazin' Willie.

There's stories why the Pafko commands such a premium (10x over other '52 commons), but they certainly are not in short supply. And the premium is not just for higher condition examples. Anyway, I can now cross Mr. Pafko off the list.

Congrats. :)
I remember finally obtaining my copy and thinking the price I paid was likely up there too, but they have only increased since then, based on what I occasionally watch.
I think the fact, which you've likely read, is because it is the first card in the set/series and therefore is very tough to find in high grade. As the saying goes, a rising tide raises all ships so I think that is the case here with Pafko?

Good luck with your Mays hunt. :)

3 new 52 Topps pickups which just arrived.

Found this really nice centered (hard to find) Luke Easter so I decided to grab it despite the upper right creasing which is hard/difficult to see.

Also got lucky and found this "thin" bottom border Bob Kennedy card that was mentioned in the 52 Topps Variation thread.

And one I never thought I'd find or own, but very grateful and thankful I did, in a partial black star Frank Campos card. :)

1970 OPC Munson/McDonald

I've owned several Munson rookies over the years, but I didn't realize until after buying this one that I actually owned it nine years ago.
There's 19 PSA 3s out there and I managed to buy the same one; how fitting.

What a great looking 3! Congrats in getting it back.

A Clemente was not a current priority or plan of mine, but this copy so fully indulged my love of rough-cut edges I figured if I was ever gonna do it, this should be the one.

That's beautiful. I love the shot with the stadium and what I assume is a young Mick.

it's 6 now. Bobby Morgan died, but the news apparently wasn't widely spread.

i think it just came out of people asking/getting high prices for pristine examples and that trickling down. No other reason seems reasonable and you are right, they are not rare by any means.

Was very irritating to me when I was trying to find a nice affordable off grade copy for my collection.
