Anyone doing any good on Mastro?
Posted By: Bob
Crud, the prices are going through the roof already! I, for one, am getting slaughtered. Apparently the tobacco and caramel vintage card market has dried up a heckuva lot more than I thought...

Posted By: runscott
...more interesting tobacco lots than the last one, and prices aren't totally out the roof yet (which they were last time before the final days). I may get shut out, but at least I get to play this time!

Posted By: dan mckee
You can count on me to be skunked as usual! I am getting used to it though, these big auctions go by and I worry about spending a fortune and when they are over, my bank account hasn't changed. Not such a bad thing is it?

Posted By: Bob
What am I moaning about is that there is increasing demand for the drying up supply of available cards.

Anyone doing any good on Mastro?
Posted By: Bob
the lot of 4 T207s I was actively pursuing in Mastro. I twice put max bids in and have been outbid. There are 4 cards in the lot, a VG Weaver, a G/VG Works, a G/VG Saier and a VG Ragan (the one card I wanted). To buy this lot, if no one else bid until the end of the auction, which is improbable, you would have to now pay around $1500 counting the commish. Figuring that the Weaver, Works and Saier would bring maybe $900 on ebay if sold individually and that would be on a good (damn good day), that means Ragan would cost me $600. Way, way too much. That is why I miss the days when you could pick up a lot of cards in an auction about a year or two ago, break them out on ebay and at least break even or even make some money on the cards. I know one recent winner of a huge lot of cards in Mastro who is finding this out the hard way.

Posted By: Bob
The last post seems to be in direct contradiction of the previous one, but I think both posts are correct. With regard to the drying up, check the dearth of E94s, E97s and E98s (non-trimmed) on ebay in the last 6 months.
