Wishful Thinking Hall of Fame

Posted By: brian p
Just for laughs, I propose that we keep track of all the players we have seen that have been incorrectly identified as Hall of Fame players. My candidate for the inaugural class: Jake Bentley

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2788555053&category=31 719

There was a thread a while back that mentioned others--feel free to add them to this list or any others that you have seen.

Brian

Posted By: jay behrens
there is also Heinie Wagner, confused for Honus. And the list would get insanely huge if went checked the modern cards for "future" HOFers. I remember a card show in the late 80s tauting signing guest and #1 overall draft pick that year, Willie Banks, as Future HOFer Willie Banks. LMAO!!! I ever told the show promoter what bithering idiot he made of himself with that claim. Needless to say, he said he would never let me set up at his show again. No loss, the show sucked anyway.

Jay

Posted By: Dave
The post is actually for Jack Bentley, not Jake Beckley. Someone told the Ebay seller, the description has been revised.

Posted By: brian p
I didn't help matters in my first post by calling Mr. Bentley 'Jake' instead of 'Jack'. I imagine the seller probably unintentionally made the same Beckley/Bentley connection.

Brian

Posted By: Joe_G.
I've seen several quotes that indicate Charles Bennett as a HOFer giving the Detroit Wolverines 4 total. Incorrect, only three HOFers (Brouthers, Thompson, and Hanlon).
