Who sells for more?<BR><BR>Most everyone knows that I track most sales of N172 cards and have a little first hand knowledge when it come to pricing.<BR><BR>If you look at lots 15, 16, 17 in the past Slote auction you will find 3 SGC 88's all which sold for $983-$1,190. The $1,190 went for a premium, as it was a card a high-end collector needed. I believe lot 16 would have gone for the same $983 if it were not for that person. I know everyone is going to say that the SGC cards are in the "old holders" but I really don't think that was the cause for what I thought was some low prices. The cards looked amazing!!! I have also post a link to a current ebay auction of a PSA 8 N172 common with 7 days left which is already at $1,100.<BR><BR>Now coming from a collector of this set and having ALL!!! "My" cards graded by SGC I would have to say that high end examples of N172's in PSA holders sell for a good 10%-30% higher than SGC cards. I also believe that most other PSA graded N172's in any grade would sell a little bit higher as well, but it's hard for me to make a clam like that when I don't have SOLID proof.<BR><BR>For the record I will NEVER sent, an N172 to PSA for grading and will continue to use SGC. Posted By: <b>murcerfan</b><p>I was sorely tempted to go after one of those 88's you mentioned, I think it was lot #15.<BR>I think one factor to consider is that there are some deep pocket collectors who only buy PSA 8 cards, especially off e-bay, so when a pre-war PSA 8 comes around it will almost always attract bidders whom otherwise might not be in the hunt.<BR><BR>That PSA 8 has a lot of sales power...right or wrong.<BR><BR>also, Barry's auction probably does not get as much exposure as an e-bay featured listing does.<BR><BR>I would expect the numbers for psa vs. sgc NM 7's to be about equal, all factors considered being equal, of course.<BR><BR>And the PSA holder does little for the eye-appeal on N-172's, so I would't be surprised to see mid-low grade SGC cards sell for slightly more... especially if I'm bidding <img src="/images/wink.gif" height=14 width=14><BR><BR>It is hard to compare numbers, because no 2 OJ's cards are identical, and most have multiple flaws to consider.<BR><BR>
