Posted By: hankron
I was asked to examine three of these proofs for a major auction house. They were these images, except in cabinet form. My opinion was that the photos should not be included in their auction, as I doubted their authenticity. I came to my opinion for a variety of reasons, both general and technical (I examined the paper and the photographic process). A well known and respected person at the auction house had originally examined the photos and had the same opinion, but, I was asked to offer a second opinion. The photos were not included in their auction.

I note that when I post an opinion on the authenticity of specific items, I am careful and conservative in my language. If you were there when I offered my in person five-word verbal opinion, you would know that my opinion on the photos is not weak.
