Posted By: Cat
It seems that the general consensus was that this was the work of another scammer. Someone in the discussion forum went back and looked at her feedback and found that she mostly is in the chickiepoo "make-up acquisition" market. I think that going from make-up acquisition to selling a $30,000 Ruth card is probably a stretch. It seems strange to me that a lot of expected scammers are allowing payment by PayPal. Doesn't this defeat the purpose?

Edited to correct typos unless otherwise noted.

Posted By: Joann
As to the M101-5 I would definitely consider taking a flyer for a few hundred dollars and crossing my fingers. But $2500 isn't a flyer, it's more like a jump off a cliff.

My question on these is (and seriously, I might be naive but I really don't know) what the seller does after the buyer sends money. Claim it's lost in the mail and keep the money? Move out of the apartment they live in?

I mean, if someone inexperienced is going to somewhat casually go for a 4-digit ripoff, what's their plan? How do they figure they'll actually keep this money? If it's a $3000 car that gets stolen, everyone assumes the police will be involved. Why would someone not also think the same of a $3K online card auction?

Joann

Posted By: Joann
There was the same card/same grade in the last Mastro auction, but the serial numbers on the holder were not the same. And the description wasn't outright lifted, but there are words and phrases that appear in the Mastro description.

Joann

Posted By: Cat
Although I can't find the catalog right now, I am sure the PSA 6 in the MastroNet auction had a Sporting News back not Famous and Barr. I e-mailed her (I assume it's a female with all the make-up purchases) and have not heard from her.

Edited to correct typos unless otherwise noted.

Posted By: Bob
I spotted 3 cards which were on ebay, such as the violet E94 Cobb and orange E98 Wagner, and don't think that someone overseas bought them unless the originals buyers sold them to this guy with the Brit accent.
Does anyone recognize the E98 Old Put red Cobb? Does anyone know who actually owns it?
