I wasn't going to mention those things, until I saw the hauls everyone else made!

Another overprinted date would give a more specific date. <br /><br />In other words, if I read your description correctly, your tax stamp is indeed the correct tax stamp for the trading cards packs, but the same stamp was used for a number of years after the cards were issued.

I hope it grades, and actually from the scan looks oversized. It also is one of the few 'fotos of Cobb where he is actually smiling.

I got another McIntyre estate photo, this one pictures Joe McGinnity and Hooks Wiltse. <br /><br />I picked up a group of 1909-12 era photos of the Milwaukee Brewers and C? Senators (Anyone know if Columbus in the old American Association was called the Senators?) included in that lot were photos of Chick Farrell, King Cole, Bill Hinchman, George McQuillan, Syd Smith, Skeeter Shelton, Phil Lewis, Tom Jones, and Lena Blackburne.<br /><br />I got 3 photos from the 1920's era of Durham Bulls players. You can see the "Hit This" bull in the background of all 3 photos.<br /><br />Picked up a couple of Nebraska Indians Postcards, a DiMaggio US Army Bat, H&B Champion #8 bat, and a circa 1890-1910 Spalding youths mitt.

Posted By: <b>davidcycleback</b><p>But I did recently purchase a significant original 1969 17x14" gelatin silver photograph of the Prussian Countess/model Veruschka by the famous Italian photographer and movie director Franco Rubartelli. What is particularly interesting about the photo is that Veruschka boldly autographed the back in pencil. She was the photographer's girlfriend at the time and wrote the image captions/descriptions on back of many of his photos. In this case, the subject was her so she simply autographed it. The back also has the photograher's stamp with Rome address. <br /><br /><img src="http://cycleback.com/veru.jpg">

Posted By: <b>Rhett Yeakley</b><p>I added my new favorite piece of my collection. I have wanted one for some time, and finally was able to pick one up at a reasonable price. It is without a doubt the nicest woodcut, and one of the foirst, ever made. It is from an 1865 issue of Frank Leslies weekly, and features a full 2-page spread illustrating some of the big baseball names in 1865. Featured prominently in the middle is a commorative of James Creighton, who had died 4 years earlier. On the far right middle is an image of young Henry Chadwick, one of the true fathers of baseball. And all around the outside are other baseball greats of the time, including names like Mort. Rogers, etc. Truly one of the most beautiful early baseball items in existance. Sorry about the blurry image, it is the best I could do with such a large item. I have had a couple of OJs for a few years now, but this is my first serious venture into the 19th century. I have been mostly a pre-WWI tobacco and caramel guy to this point.<br />JimB<br />P.S. I don't know if this qualifies as lately, but in December I finished off my T206 set. I bought my first two T206s (Lajoie with bat and red background Cobb) in 1980 or 81, so it has been a long time coming.

Also got a trio of very rare E79 redbacks in bad shape, but WTF, they are among the rarest of boxing cards. <br /><br />Picked up a nice W-516 Cobb. One of the better looking strip cards. <br /><br />Got a PR-2 Lefty O'Doul pin. <br /><br />My T200 A's card came in. Nice to finally have a T-card of Mack, Plank, Bender, Baker, et al.--they were a really good team. <br /><br />My T202 Speaker-Wood came in. Nice to get that one.<br /><br />Last, picked up a bunch of old cowboy exhibits including Henry Fonda, Gary Cooper, James Arness and my most wanted--Pernell Roberts. He's really tough to find because he left the show early and the card is a short print; finally finished my Bonanza collection. Yeeha!!

Just like Scott had to have the unc cobb, I had to have the Mack, so it was a good trade (although those weren't the only cards involved). <br /><br />Forgot to mention two other pickups in my initial post. After posting in 'the one that got away' thread, I decided to exorcise my collecting demons by tracking down and buying back my T206 proof. Also managed to pick up a circa 1901 Amos Rusie cabinet card, which shows Rusie in his brief stint with Cincinnati in the twilight of his career.

I picked it up in Verkman's auction and the game is scored inside.<br /><br />I was born and raised in Hagerstown and played at the park many times where this game took place so it's really nostalgic for me. <br /><br />It looks great on my mantle, too.

Posted By: <b>Julie</b><p>an Old Judge card in it, but I have never seen an unopened, or even just opened, Old judge box. As a matter of fact an ex common old Judge (Willaims) came with the box, but there was no pretense that it came out of that particular box. As I said, someone wrote in pencil on the side of the box, "asorted,' which makes one wish that whatever was kept inside--cards, possdibly, were still there, but they weren't. The box is very fragile, not tough cardboard. It must lose some of it's hardyness with age, because i can't imasgine putting twenty cigarettes and a baseball card inside that delicate thing.<br /><br />I sure will keep an eye peeled for that Bob Rhoades T206--who would have thought T206 would be so innovative? I mean, many are beautiful, but it's a pretty conservative set, on the whole.

The Cicotte was an off-line sale from a guy who felt bad for me when I came in 2nd in a Mastro (I believe) auction on a different M131. It took all this time to get it. Davis was an offline sale from a good friend/collector. Graham, Clarke and some of the T210s were on ebay as was the Walsh. The Carrigans were an off-line purchase from a fellow I had bought several cards from on ebay. The Bresnahan and Jennings? I'll never tell because I am still working that source off-line and E98s are going through the roof.<br />I don't have the dumb luck that Leon has in finding cards nor the persistence of Quan, but I stumble on a deal every now and then. <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14> <br /> <br />
