Glue and grading

Posted By: Anson
I have a few cards with glue spots or residue on the back. I was wondering how this affects grading with SGC or PSA? Is it equal to staining, paper loss, chipping? In most cases, it just appears as some shiny spots on the backs. I don't want to soak them and risk causing further damage.

I searched around but didn't find much info relating to this

Glue and grading

Posted By: steve yawitz
since cards with paper loss seem to be randomly assigned grades from 2-5 (with the occasional 6 outlier) at newport beach. but i can say to generally expect 2's for any kind of glue residue. this card has small areas of what i assume is glue-related bubbling, for lack of better word, on the reverse. i didn't notice it at first and it doesn't show up in the scan, but it seems to be responsible for the psa 2 grade.
