So when exactly does the statute of limits end on so-called "exploitation"? A week, month, year? If I was sitting on 100 Puckett Rookie cards or autographs I should sit on them until the market becomes cold again?

Posted By: <b>Jim Hoffman</b><p>Today's NYPost also talks about the absurdity of Steiner Sports sending emails to their customers almost immediately after Puckett's death--using the tragedy as a sales pitch.<br /><br />If it were my item to sell, I would wait at least a few days after the funeral stories have run in the newspapers. I guess it would be safe to figure on two weeks after the player's death. <br /><br />It's a fine balance between selling your stuff and coming across as a ghoulish opportunist.

Posted By: <b>jay wolt</b><p>Yes its a very fine line.<br /><br />But if a buyers wants an item, is it wrong for the seller to sell it?<br />Its supply & demand 101<br />I wouldn't sell anything of Puckett due to his tragic death, nor would I purchase anything at this time either.<br />But apparently there's a lot of buyers who want to remember him, so it good<br />that there's an outlet of a multitude of items to choose from...jay

Posted By: <b>Cat</b><p>I posted within the other thread that mlb.com had "remembrance" plaques and signed balls (not authentic but machined signed mind you). Within a day they were no longer listed because they had sold out, but they still had a bunch of other Kirby crap.
