Will a T205 be rejected by a grading co if....

Posted By: Matt E.
they don't measure exactly. I am getting ready to send in approximately 200 T205's in to be graded..... and a couple seem short top to bottom and side to side. All 1's and 2's at best. They don't seem altered.

Is there any "variance allowed" by the grading company due to the age and condition of the cards.

Is it smart to send all at once? I am going for a uniform look in the holder. Any company over another you could suggest for such volume.

Thanks Matt
Posted By: Geno
Personally, I would save my money and use it to buy a pizza and some beer and look at my T205s while I chowed down watching the Cubs (keeping the pepperoni grease off the cards, of course). 1s and 2s are hardly worth the effort and lose their character in that tomb. Enjoy 'em instead of wrapping them in plastic!

Geno

Posted By: jay behrens
I agree, I would not slab them unless your planning on selling them right now. The money you are spending on slabbing could be used for cards instead if you don't intend on selling them.

Jay

I like to sit outside, drink beer and yell at people. If I did this at home, I would be arrested. So, I go to baseball games and fit right in.

Posted By: al davis
the advantage of low-grade cards over higher states of preservation is that they can still be handled and enjoyed. no need to worry, just enjoy! if i had 200 low grade t205's, i'd buy 200 new card savers and get a uniform appearance that way. either in stacks, or placed in pages with a dark background, they'd be good looking and, importantly, more accessible than 200 slabs. and the $1000+ that you'd save in grading fees could buy a nice handful of low-grade t205 hof'ers.

Posted By: J Levine
If you have to grade them...some companies, like SGC, understand that T205s do vary a little (a very little) except American Beauty which is most often thin.

In my experience, the quality control on t205s was much better than t206s and i have seen a lot rejected by grading companies for measuring short.

Save the money and buy more t205s...

Joshua

Posted By: Al Crisafulli
Matt, I'm doing a low-mid grade T205 set in SGC slabs, and let me offer a dissenting opinion.

First, I think T205s are absolutely gorgeous cards. Many people think they're unattractive in low grade, but I think if you can get them where the picture is not damaged heavily, they're amazing-looking. In my opinion, putting them in a slab gives them a level of protection that can't be rivalled by other storage methods, and for 100-year-old cards, I want them as well-protected as possible. You can get most of them graded for $8 each with SGC.

Second, I think T205s look absolutely stunning in SGC holders. The black insert seems to really bring out the color in the cards. The uniformity of having many cards all in the holders really appeals to me, from a display/storage perspective.

Just my two cents.

-Al
