R314D - How rare are these?

Posted By: Gilbert Maines
Following Tim's Old Cardboard presentation, I would have thought that these would have been coming out of the woodwork, with collectors capitalizing on profit potential that they did not realize that they owned. But, unless Im not looking in the right places, these cards are not flooding the market. What gives?

R314D - How rare are these?

Posted By: fkw
I found only 1 R314D "dull finish" (Cochrane) in the last couple months of looking at every single R313, R314 on eBay. They are very tough.

Last couple months I have found 3 of the scarce R314B-1 "borderless" cards, and have seen about 3-4 of the R314B-2 "w/border" cards (including a Simmons that sold earlier today).

The R314C "creamy" cards are seen a little more often and the regular R314 "litho" cards are by far the most common.

R314D - How rare are these?

Posted By: Tim Newcomb
Hi Gil,

They are killers! Very few collect them because no one has them. I was hoping the article would bring some out of the woodwork to help me complete my sets, but only one or two people have contacted me. They have to be almost the toughest 1930s items in the hobby-- certainly the toughest premiums.

I do have some dupes of the Canadian players and a couple of the R314D Tigers, which I'm hoping to use for trade bait for the ones I still need, but so far no nibbles.....

Cheers,
Tim
