Posted By: Dave Grimes
None seem particularly "scarce" in this series. The crossover sports like Golf, Pool & Billiards, Boxing etc, are in higher demand but not scarce - unless you start to talk about high slabbable grades?

Hassan and Mecca backs are the "norm", Tolstoi backs are tough - as are the blank backed issues.

Posted By: George
I do not think that any of the T218 athletes are more scarce than any others. With regard to backs, I think about 90% are Mecca, and 10% Hassan. Tolstoi is very scarce, possibly 1 in 1000.

I think the oldest "survivor" of a T218 card was Abel Kiviat, who died in 1991 at the age of 99, approximately 80 years after his T218 card appeared. Is there any athlete who lived longer than this after appearing on a card? I cannot think of one.

Posted By: warshawlaw
I'd say waay scarcer than 1/1000. I've seen many thousands of these cards and under 25 Tolstois.

If you want to see what one looks like, there is a low grade one on ebay in the boxing category.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140076731222&fromMakeT rack=true
