Dealing with Gar Miller?

Posted By: Anthony
Gar is a really good guy, one of the true gentleman in the hobby. He was kind to me when I was a kid 30 years ago, and equally as pleasant to deal with today.
His grading tends to be closer to the old days than that accepted by the grading companies today, but he's very fair about it. On my last order he sent the cards with a note stating that upon packing them felt they were a bit rougher than he had thought when he graded them previously, and enclosed a partial refund. He also stated that they could be returned for a full refund if I was in the least bit disappointed.
They were fine for the adjusted price, and I was very happy with them. I'm sure if you call and ask for a description it would alleviate any concerns. I certainly wouldn't hesistate to deal with him again, and there is no risk.

Dealing with Gar Miller?

Posted By: Paul
Bought some cards from him twice a few years ago. Seemed like a nice guy on the phone. My second order with him, I lost 15 bucks. He didn't send one of the cards I ordered because he discovered some flaw with the card, but I never got my 15 bucks back either. I suppose if I would have reminded him, he would have made good on it.

I just got an email from Gar, & he offered to send the 15 bucks. It just fell through the cracks, & he just didn't realize it. He is a true gentlemen like I suspected, & great to deal with.

Dealing with Gar Miller?

Posted By: Rick McQuillan
Hi, I have ordered from Gar's website twice this year. The cards were in stock, the service was very quick. The grading is about the same as Fristch, Frank Ward, etc., which is about a half grade higher than I would grade a card. But the prices were good, and I take the grading difference into account when I order. I plan on ordering from Gar again.

Rick

Dealing with Gar Miller?

Posted By: kit young
Tho he hardly needs additional kudos, I can echo the fact Gar is a true hobby pioneer , very reliable and fair. He went on numerous early buying trips, buying out of hotels, well before most of us were even dealers. He still has a ton of stuff. I first bought from him about 32 years ago (Goudey Ruth 35 bucks, Clemente rookie $5, etc.) Many of you oldtimers may remember his original pricelist/guide , printed in the mid 70's...just about the only source of pricing at the time. Very nice fellow, as well. Kit Young
