In the history of baseball only Willie Mays and "Wildfire" Schulte have ever had at least 20 triples, 20 doubles, 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases in a single season. What I find remarkable is that Schulte actually hit 21 bombs in 1911, when it just wasn't done. Show some "Wildfire" cards if you have em or tell us about other "exclusive clubs" which involve pre-war players.<br /><br /><img src="http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z105/pstratt63/wildfire.jpg"><br /><br />

Posted By: <b>Jeff Lichtman</b><p>Actually, Frank Schulte named his favorite horse "Wildfire" after a Broadway show called Wildfire starring Lillian Russell - a well known baseball fan. Eventually Schulte became known as "Wildfire" himself.

I only know of three members of this club, although there could certainly be relatively newcomers, I haven' been watching since Saberhagen did it in '94 with 14 wins while yielding only 13 BB. Prior to him was a long stretch to Slim Sallee in 1919, who had 21 wins with 20 walks. And Matty accomplished this as well. But Matty did it for two consecutive seasons: 1913 = 25 wins/ 21 walks, 1914 = 24 wins/ 23 walks.

So the trivia question is:<br /><br />What franchise recorded a no hitter the fastest from its inception, and how long did it take?

Posted By: <b>paulstratton</b><p>Quick Belle story since you brought up the question...I got paired with him in a golf tournament a few years ago(he's been trying to play the mini-tours out here but he's not very good) and everyone in the group is a little intimidated by him because of his demeanor, on the second hole I hit one about 50 yards past him and he comes over to see what driver I'm hitting and I just flexed my bicep and pointed to it like he did when another team(I forget who) had his bat checked after he hit a home run...anyway he cracked up and we had a nice time playing and chatting after that. I think I mentioned the 50/50 thing to him and he said no one will ever do it again. I tend to agree with him on that point. Sorry about the run on sentence!

The Montreal Expos had a no hitter in the 9th game of their existence, thrown by Bill Stoneman. That too is an astonishing record that appears untouchable.
