Posted By: JK
I agree SGC is the best. However, after purchasing a lot of 17 bvg graded t206s from REA, Ive got a better appreciation for bvg. They have done a real nice job grading them.

Posted By: leon
Not because BVG (Beckett) has stepped up to the plate on the board recently but because they do a much better job in grading, do I think your lumping them with GAI is incorrect. I think at this point most on the board, including myself, would rather own a BVG graded card than a GAI one. My guess is it would bring more money too...I still like SGC best for my grading but BVG isn't far behind....and to me, I like them better than PSA....Though I think they do ok most of the times too....

Posted By: Steve
All the BVG stuff I'd sent in the past few years have consistently come back with conservative, but accurate grades - even par with SGC. PSA, in the past six months has also become tougher.

Rugged holders, but Beckett has gotta lose that hefty, foggy condom.

Posted By: JK
Ive never had a problem with the bvg "condem". I dont find it distracting - though it does sometimes make scanning a bit trickier by reflecting the light of the scanner. Its far better than the PSA condem - at least bvg's cards are put in straight and remain straight - no floating and dinged corners as with psa. In all honesty, if sgc were to go out of business, I'd send everything to bvg before psa.

Posted By: Jon Canfield
Not to go too much against the grain but I can remember past threads when we have complained that grading companies hammer otherwise beautiful cards with tons of eye appeal to a 1 or 2 simply because a spot of paperloss on the back.

Now, we see scans of two cards that have beautiful eye appeal and a spot of paperloss on the back and we complain because they are graded a 4 and not a 1 or 2.

So, in my opinion, we need to make up our collective minds . I personally do not see a problem with grading these cards a "4". Sure, I understand that we need some conistency in grades but maybe this is a step in the right direction. After all, change must start somewhere.

Posted By: Bottom of the Ninth
I am fairly confident more than 2 scans could be presented. My point was the lack of consistency. Personally, paper loss on a card's obverse or reverse should down grade it to Good or if merely minor scuffing, Very Good.

Posted By: paulstratton
Such a nice front though, I'm sure Jeff L. took the loss into consideration when bidding. Consistency would be nice, but with so many different graders it would be almost impossible.
