Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
I think I am correct, when I say that the Delehanty clan provided the most Major League BB players than any
other family in the game. From 1888 to 1915, no less than five Delehanty brothers played in the Majors.

"Big Ed" Delehanty was the oldest, the biggest, and the best of the family (1888-1903) with a career BA = .345
(all-time 4th highest in the Majors).

Tom Delehanty had a short career as an infielder (1894-1897) with a career BA = .239

Joe Delehanty had a short career as an outfielder (1907-1909) with a career BA = .238

Jim Delehanty played the infield (1901-1915) and retired with a respectable BA = .283

Frank Delehanty, the youngest of brothers, lived the longest to age 82. His career started in 1905 with the New
York Highlanders. In 1909 he played in AAA ball with Louisville (American Association) His career ended in 1915
with Pittsburg of the Federal Lge. with a career BA = .226.

Frank was playing with the Syracuse Chiefs in 1903 when big brother Ed accidently fell to his death at Niagara Falls.
Frank traveled to Niagara Falls on July 9th, 1903 in order to identify his big brother's body.

Frank is one of my favorite T206 cards....here he is depicted with the various T-brand backs that he is found with.
The only back I am missing is the OLD MILL.

Hey Net54er's....let's see your various Delehanty cards....are all 5 brothers portrayed on BB cards ?

TED Z

Posted By: Jeff S.
Ted - any theory on the T206 Delehanty being a superprint? I picked up an original one-owner collection of 156 T206's years ago, and that card appeared the most with four specimens. I'm sure checking pop reports might reveal something, just a thought - always loved that card.

Posted By: barrysloate
Only I would notice this, but half the cards spell "Delahanty" correctly, and half misspell it "Delehanty."

T206 for one has it wrong. Do you think if I write them they will correct it on subsequent print runs?

Posted By: Pennsylvania Ted
You inquired......
"Ted - any theory on the T206 Delehanty being a superprint?"

No, definitely not.....the Six Super Prints that Scot Reader has identified can be found with as many as 24 different T-brand backs.

As I have shown in my scans, Frank Delehanty is found with no more than 10 different backs. And perhaps less, since I have yet to
find an OLD MILL version of him.

Actually, Jim Delehanty is found with more T-brand backs than brother Frank.

Thanks for asking,

TED Z
