How in the heck has Ebay forced you to do any of that? If you've maintained that 11 year old computer, it's still plenty powerful enough to scan stuff and list it on the web. And if you've bought a computer in the last 11 years, THAT one is powerful enough. Ebay doesn't force you to buy a new printer. Ebay doesn't force you to buy a new scanner. Ebay certainly doesn't force you to do "countless system software upgrades".
This complaint seems like a red herring.
