That's what I'm talking about.

One possibility is that since the check was made out to 'Spaulding," Spalding signed it that way. (When I was a kid I remember my father explaining to me that you had to sign a check exactly as it was written on the front.)

If the check is forged, and the forger misspelled Spalding's name on the front and back, why did the forger spell it correctly in the red ink rubber stamp on the back?
