Default A belated "look what I picked up at the National" thread

I'm filing this a bit late, but I'm a bit excited to share.

I was at the Natty from Thursday until around 2:30 on Sunday. Had a fantastic time, hung around with old friends from OBC and CU and met lots of new faces that I've "known" for years in OBC and on the CU boards. Met Leon at the dinner on Friday night as well.

So I went a little crazy and a lot off course my first day there. Instead of sticking to the plan and whittling down a few sets even further (I did manage to finish two 70s football and two 70s baseball sets while there), I decided to start a new one: 1953 Bowman Color. I've always loved that set - it's really the most beautiful post-war set imo. Got a great deal from a couple of my favorite dealers, scoring a few dozen beaters to get me well on my way.

That, of course, isn't where I went completely crazy. At no time prior to the Natty was I thinking, "I need to own a T-3". Happened by a table that is OBC-friendly (Mike Peich) and got to talking to him a little. Saw his stack of Turkey Reds with a Brooklyn player on top. Made the mistake of picking it up. About three minutes later I was pulling out my wallet. My first T-3!

So now I have a problem. I really like this card. Can't stop looking at it, can't stop showing to everyone I know. So Friday I go back to Mike's table and soon after I had a Dahlen:

I even made plans to go back on Saturday morning and score a SGC 1.5 Jordan, but got there too late. Not to worry. I'll pick up another Brooklyn player at some point, and then another, and then...

In the meantime, I'm really stoked to own a couple of cards from a set I've long admired.
