Check out the increase in value of the '85 Topps McGwire in PSA 10 over the last 10 months or so--from the $500 range to well over $600, new asking prices above $700, and PWCC selling one for $999!. It wasn't very many years ago that this card in this grade was at $300 or less. The most iconic baseball figure over the last 20+ years is regaining his luster--younger collectors don't really care about the PED's issue (and baseball has obviously made a dedicated effort to downplay the issue, including the steroid guys in the lists of lifetime leaders), but they do cherish his Bunyonesque qualities. This was a $5,000 card in 1998, and it might get there again.
I also think HOF'ers from the '91 Desert Shield set in high grade will do just fine.
PS: Bonds is going up also--his gem mint 1986 Topps Traded Tiffany rookie in gem mint 10 was once $2,000, went down to $200, and recent sales have been back up to about $700.
Happy collecting,
Larry
