I think there is a valid point to this. The level of Japanese play is subpar to MLB and more equivalent to a AAA level. Those hits should not count in any way, zero, zilch, nada.

Rose will always be the hits leader until the game changes and players skill play like ichiro, instead of swing for the fences. Ichiro is absolutely a HOF player and will be a member of the 3000 club, however that is it.

Anyone arguing that Japanese ball is countable can then tell me why Wladimir Balentien would have hit 57 homers if he could have made it off the bench of Seattle or Cincinnati.
