Personally, I wouldn't use tape of any kind. How's that tape going to look in twenty years? Plus, it's really just doing further damage to the card.

In the preservation field, Japanese tissue is often the way to go. Plus it's reversible. That's what we mostly use at my work to do preservation work on old books, ephemera, etc.

No offense meant but using something like Elmer's glue is bad advice and will do more damage than good.
