I think he onside kicked it because he absolutely did not trust his defense to not allow a first down.
The end of the game was pretty much moot. 1000-1, it was more like a million+ to 1. Much better chance actually of scoring a TD on a kickoff by hoping for a muff further downfield from the return guys and running it in, then pulling the ball out of a onside kick scrum and running it in.
Both games were freaking crazy though.
As far as the Steelers, I don't think I've seen a QB make so many tough throws and see so many great catches.........and that team still loses the game.
