Thanks for sharing some of your great 19th century cards and info (along with the others in this thread), Joe.

I don't know too much about these guys but always enjoy looking at the image.

Another 19th century favorite of mine are the 1886 Tomlinson cabinets. The Detroit Wolverines would visit Frank Tomlinson's studio on April 27th, 1886 and be photographed in both action poses (players) and portrait (players and manager).

The Larry Twitchell collection auctioned by REA this spring helped introduce several new portraits and now only Ned Hanlon is unknown in today's hobby.

This near complete collection of portraits allow us to recreate, in part, some of the early hobby collectibles including Detroit's Lorillard composite. Lorillard used 11 of the 13 player portraits, deciding against Sam Crane and Charlie Getzien. In full disclosure I do not own all the portraits.




I could snag the Hanlon photo from the "Champions of the League" cabinet but that would be cheating.
