Not to derail the thread, but it reminded me of a guy I played softball with a bunch of years ago:
He laced a hit and was flying around the bases when he suddenly tumbled into the dirt while rounding second and screamed,
"I've been shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Completely and utterly startled, everyone
(both teams, girlfriends in the stands, bystanders and umps alike) hit the deck to get out of the line of fire as we searched the surrounding areas for the 'grassy knoll.' We crawled out to 'save' him, but when we got there there was no blood, no holes, nothing. Turns out that he very badly blew out his hamstring
(ending up on crutches for a long time), and there was no gunshot. He later said that it popped so loudly and 'hit' him that he absolutely believed he had been gunned down "by one of my enemies."
Talk about a SMH moment!!!
