For a few years, I would pick up any 61 Topps Pumpsie I could find.... I just like the card. My plan at some point was to send a few to see if I could have a some signed. But alas, I waiting too long and he passed.
When ever my youngest daughters would come over to hang out, for the first time, they would get a 1961 Topps Pumpsie Green and I would give them some background on the man. When they would come back, I would test them to see what they remembered. To my amazement, they were usually pretty good.
I'm a Midwest guy and I think the significance of his life/career is mostly lost outside of Boston when it should be celebrated.
